About Clayton EHS

James Clayton is the founder of Clayton EHS.  A Chartered Health, Safety and Environmental professional qualified to postgraduate level with 24 years experience in industrial EHS management and consulting. James is a specialist in assisting organisations to develop and maintain effective EHS management and assurance systems and secure performance improvement through insightful auditing.

James has extensive experience of legal compliance assessment and assurance, risk management, management system certification, training and behavioural safety services. 

James has managed and undertaken numerous compliance and management system audits for multinational companies including Johnson and Johnson, Merck, Dyson, Burberry, Unilever, Balfour Beatty, Anglo American, Rio Tinto, Pladis, Cummins, Associated British Foods, Reckitt Benckiser and Accord Pharmaceuticals.  James has deep experience in a range of industry sectors including construction, mining, oil & gas, chemical, food and drink, manufacturing, power generation and retail.

James has global experience having managed and undertaken audit assignments throughout Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa, the United States, Australia, South America and the Republics of the former Soviet Union.  He is respected within his profession, and has been invited to speak at several high-profile safety conferences and meetings. He has acted as an external examiner in Principal Environmental Auditor examinations for the IEMA and as a Peer Reviewer for Chartered Membership of IOSH.  He has also written a range of articles for the Safety and Health Practitioner, Health and Safety International and Tomorrow’s Health and Safety.
